Role Overview

Music Group Technologies (MGT), MGT Films is seeking a Vice President, Casting – Pop & Rock to lead casting strategy and execution across all film, music, documentary, and multimedia projects focused on Orlando’s unprecedented music movement from 1995–2005.

This executive will serve as the central casting authority across two defining genres of the era — Pop and Rock — ensuring authenticity, credibility, and historical accuracy while overseeing all casting operations.


The role requires:

  • Elite-level casting experience
  • Deep firsthand knowledge of Orlando’s pop and rock ecosystems
  • Existing relationships across artists, managers, producers, venues, and labels
  • The ability to operate both creatively and operationally at executive scale


Core Responsibilities (All Genres)

Executive Casting Leadership

  • Own all casting functions across MGT’s music-driven projects, including documentaries, live sessions, narrative adaptations, interviews, reenactments, and future IP extensions.
  • Define casting strategy aligned with historical integrity, creative direction, and commercial viability.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive talent databases covering artists, producers, managers, promoters, engineers, and cultural contributors from the Orlando era.


Talent Acquisition & Relationships

  • Source, approach, and secure legacy artists and key contributors.
  • Maintain trusted relationships with managers, estates, labels, and representatives.
  • Conduct interviews, screen tests, chemistry reads, and casting evaluations as needed.


Legal & Business Affairs Collaboration

  • Oversee negotiation of appearance agreements and participation terms.
  • Coordinate with legal on releases, union compliance, and rights clearances.
  • Align talent participation with overall monetization and distribution strategy.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with executive producers, directors, A&R, archival researchers, and marketing teams.
  • Serve as a creative authority during development and editorial discussions.
  • Ensure casting decisions elevate storytelling while protecting authenticity.


Genre-Specific Duties

Pop Casting Leadership (1995–2005)

The candidate must demonstrate deep expertise in:

  • Orlando-based pop vocal groups and solo artists
  • Label ecosystems (Sony/Epic, Jive, Elektra, etc.)
  • Vocal production, choreography, image branding, and teen-pop marketing
  • The broader late-’90s / early-2000s pop infrastructure


Responsibilities include:

  • Securing participation from pop artists, vocal producers, choreographers, stylists, and executives.
  • Casting voices who can accurately represent the global pop explosion that emerged from Orlando.
  • Identifying under-recognized contributors behind chart success.
  • Advising on musical authenticity, vocal style, and era-specific performance dynamics.


Rock Casting Leadership (1995–2005)

The candidate must also demonstrate deep expertise in:

  • Orlando’s alternative, post-grunge, metal, and hard rock scenes
  • Touring culture and grassroots venue ecosystems (Orange Avenue corridor, House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, etc.)
  • Producer and management influence within the regional rock movement
  • The transition from local buzz to major-label breakthroughs


Responsibilities include:

  • Securing participation from band members, producers, managers, crew, and venue figures.
  • Identifying overlooked contributors critical to the movement’s success.
  • Ensuring casting reflects the authenticity, grit, and collaborative culture of the rock scene.
  • Advising on musical, visual, and cultural representation of the era.


Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience as a Casting Director or Senior Casting Executive in film, music, or documentary production.
  • Demonstrated expertise casting music-driven content.
  • Deep, firsthand knowledge of both Orlando pop and rock scenes (1995–2005).
  • Established relationships within the entertainment and music industries.
  • Strong negotiation and executive communication skills.
  • Proven ability to operate at both creative and operational levels.


Preferred Background

  • Direct involvement in the Orlando music ecosystem during the era.
  • Experience with music documentaries or biographical storytelling.
  • Understanding of music IP, publishing, and master rights structures.

What You Bring

  • 8–12+ years of experience in A&R, music strategy, talent development, or creative direction
  • Deep familiarity with music analytics, streaming data, and cultural forecasting
  • Experience working with or leading AI, ML, or music intelligence tools
  • Strong relationships across the music industry, especially among artists, producers, publishers, sync licensing and record labels.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams that merge music and technology.

We’re hiring a Vice President, Studio Production to lead the entire spectrum of our music production process—from concept to commercial-ready track. This is a hands-on executive leadership role for a technically skilled, creatively intuitive producer with deep experience in studio management, engineering, and artist relations.

You’ll oversee the full production pipeline: tracking, mixing, mastering, and session coordination—ensuring that every piece of music created at MGT is polished, emotionally resonant, and sonically world-class. You'll also serve as the primary production liaison for IRL recording artists during in-studio sessions, creating an inspiring and professional environment while managing expectations and delivering final mixes that meet both creative and technical standards.
